These symptoms can have several causes, so inspect the camshaft, lifters, timing drive, lubrication system, cooling system, and sealing surfaces before ordering.
This engine service kit is designed for select 2009–2015 Chrysler, Dodge, and Jeep vehicles equipped with a 5.7L V8 HEMI engine using both MDS and VVT/VCT. It combines the camshaft, hydraulic roller lifters, timing-chain components, camshaft timing gear, oil pump, water pump, cylinder-head gasket components, head bolts, and lower-engine gaskets for related service performed during the same engine teardown.
Common Symptoms & Inspection Scenarios
- Persistent ticking or tapping from the upper engine
- Recurring cylinder misfires or rough idle
- Reduced performance or uneven engine operation
- Rattle or abnormal noise from the timing area
- Confirmed cam-lobe, lifter-roller, or timing-component wear
