Use Timing Chain Kit after diagnosis has isolated startup rattle, timing noise, cam-to-crank correlation faults, or excessive timing-component wear. The replacement renews the matched timing-drive components that keep crankshaft and camshaft operation synchronized. Set the crankshaft and camshaft at the required timing marks and inspect the sprockets, guides, tensioners, oil passages, and related seals. Rotate the engine by hand to confirm timing before startup. This application uses the 2.0L / 2.2L / 2.4L GM Ecotec DOHC engine, so the engine code and factory configuration must agree with the vehicle being repaired. Follow the specified timing-mark, tensioner, sealant, and torque procedures, then verify cam-to-crank synchronization before startup.
