Rear Differential is designed for 2011-2018 Ram 1500 and supports drivetrain service after gear, bearing, carrier, mount, or housing wear has been diagnosed. The service scope centers on the stated axle position, drive layout, gear or carrier configuration, and mounting interfaces. The steel helical-gear carrier is configured for the Chrysler 9.25″ ZF case with 31-spline axle shafts; carrier bearings are not included.
During operation, the differential distributes drive torque while allowing the connected wheels or shafts to rotate at different speeds. Inspection commonly follows bearing noise, gear damage, excessive backlash, mount failure, leakage, or housing damage. The same inspection should cover the carrier bearings, ring and pinion contact, axle splines, seals, fluid condition, and housing surfaces because wear or damage there can affect the replacement. Follow the application-specific fluid, fastener-torque, spline or flange alignment, and post-installation operating checks. Install this Rear Differential only in the stated component position and configuration.
